Withdrawal and Retraction Policy

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Innovations

1. Policy Overview

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Innovations is committed to maintaining the integrity and permanence of the scholarly record. This policy outlines the conditions and procedures governing:

  • Withdrawal of manuscripts prior to publication
  • Retraction of published articles
  • Corrections and post-publication updates

The journal follows recognized international standards for ethical publishing and scholarly transparency.

PART A: MANUSCRIPT WITHDRAWAL (Pre-Publication)

2. Permissible Withdrawal

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript under the following conditions:

  • The request is made before formal acceptance
  • The request is submitted in writing to the official journal email
  • All listed authors agree to the withdrawal
  • The manuscript has not entered final production

Withdrawal requests must clearly state the reason for withdrawal.

3. Withdrawal During Peer Review

Withdrawal after peer review has begun is strongly discouraged. The journal reserves the right to:

  • Decline withdrawal requests if review is substantially completed
  • Record instances of repeated withdrawal
  • Restrict future submissions from authors who misuse the review process

The peer review process requires significant academic effort, and unethical withdrawal undermines scholarly integrity.

4. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Once a manuscript has been formally accepted:

  • Withdrawal requests will generally not be approved
  • Withdrawal may only be considered in exceptional circumstances
  • Editorial discretion applies

Accepted manuscripts are considered part of the forthcoming scholarly record.

5. Withdrawal Due to Ethical Violations

If a manuscript under review is found to involve:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate submission
  • Authorship disputes
  • Undue influence or misconduct

The journal may reject or remove the manuscript from consideration without author consent.

PART B: RETRACTION (Post-Publication)

6. Principle of Scholarly Record Permanence

Once published, an article becomes part of the permanent academic record. Published articles will not be removed at the author’s request alone.

7. Grounds for Retraction

A published article may be retracted in cases involving:

  • Proven plagiarism
  • Serious methodological or data errors
  • Fabrication or falsification
  • Ethical violations
  • Duplicate publication
  • Copyright infringement

Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief based on evidence and ethical guidelines.

8. Retraction Procedure

If retraction is necessary:

  • A formal retraction notice will be published
  • The original article will remain accessible
  • The article will be clearly marked as “Retracted”
  • The reason for retraction will be transparently stated

The journal avoids complete deletion of published articles except in legally mandated cases.

9. Corrections and Expressions of Concern

If minor errors are identified that do not invalidate findings: A correction notice may be issued

If serious concerns are raised but investigation is ongoing:
An Expression of Concern may be published

These measures preserve transparency and protect the scholarly record.

PART C: AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITY

10. Author Acknowledgement

By submitting a manuscript, authors acknowledge that:

  • Submission constitutes commitment to the editorial process
  • Withdrawal is limited once peer review has progressed
  • Published articles cannot be removed without valid cause
  • Ethical responsibilities continue after publication

11. Appeals

Authors may appeal withdrawal or retraction decisions by:

  • Submitting a written explanation
  • Providing supporting evidence
  • All appeals are reviewed independently.

The decision of the Editor-in-Chief is final.

12. Transparency and Policy Review

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with evolving international publishing standards and best practices.
