Plagiarism Policy

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Innovations

1. Commitment to Originality

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Innovations is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scholarly publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered unethical and unacceptable. All submitted manuscripts must represent original work conducted by the author(s).

2. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, images, or figures without proper citation
  • Substantial similarity to previously published work
  • Improper paraphrasing without attribution
  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication
  • Duplicate submission to multiple journals
  • Using third-party content without authorization
  • Translating previously published work without disclosure

Plagiarism may be intentional or unintentional; however, intent does not excuse misconduct.

3. Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Authors must not:

  • Republish substantially similar content from their own previous work without proper citation
  • Submit manuscripts that significantly overlap with previously published articles
  • Fragment a single study into multiple publications without justification
  • If overlap with prior work exists, it must be clearly disclosed at submission.

4. Plagiarism Screening Procedure

All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before peer review.

Screening may include:

  • Use of plagiarism detection software
  • Manual editorial review
  • Cross-checking references and citations
  • Similarity reports are evaluated using editorial judgment and not percentage thresholds alone.

Legitimate similarity may include:

  • References and bibliography
  • Standard methodological descriptions
  • Properly cited quotations

5. Acceptable Similarity

There is no fixed similarity percentage that guarantees acceptance or rejection. However:

  • Minor similarity due to common phrases or methodology may be acceptable.
  • Substantial unattributed overlap is unacceptable.
  • Each case is evaluated individually.

6. Editorial Action Before Publication

If plagiarism is detected during initial screening or peer review:

  • Minor Overlap - Manuscript returned for revision and proper citation.
  • Moderate Overlap - Manuscript rejected with explanation.
  • Severe Plagiarism - Immediate rejection.
  • Temporary or permanent submission ban.

7. Post-Publication Plagiarism

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may:

  • Publish a correction
  • Issue an expression of concern
  • Retract the article
  • Notify relevant institutions
  • Retracted articles remain accessible with clear labeling to maintain the scholarly record.

8. Responsibilities of Authors

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original
  • All sources are properly cited
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained
  • The manuscript complies with this Plagiarism Policy
  • Authors are fully responsible for the authenticity of their content.

9. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The use of AI tools is not considered plagiarism in itself. However:

  • Authors remain fully responsible for originality.
  • AI-generated text must not infringe copyright.
  • Sources must still be properly cited.
  • AI use must not result in fabricated data or misleading content.
  • Failure to ensure originality may result in rejection.

10. Appeals and Clarifications

Authors may respond to plagiarism concerns by:

  • Providing clarification
  • Submitting supporting documentation
  • Revising the manuscript
  • Final decisions rest with the Editor-in-Chief.

11. Policy Review

This policy is periodically reviewed to remain aligned with evolving international academic standards and ethical guidelines.
